Crazy Tech Countdown: a fake magic mouse that works like a phone, identify people by scanning their ears and more
Welcome to this week’s Crazy Tech News Countdown, where we count down the week’s funniest and weirdest stories. Without further ado, let’s count them down.
5. How ugly are you? – If you have self-esteem issues, you better not download this app. Ugly Meter, as the name implies, scans a photo of you and tries to guess whether you’re ugly or not. Of course you should take all that comes out of this with a grain of salt, but the idea is awesome. You can get the app here.

4. Forget fingerprints… ear scanning everybody! (submitted by Lyserg Zeroz on SPOM) – First there were fingerprints, then eye scanning, and now researchers have thought of yet another effective way to identify you: your ears. Apparently there aren’t two people with the same ear shape, so this could be used in combination with other biometrics. That said, many have pointed out hair can get in the way. We’ll have to wait to find out.
3. Is this a magic mouse or a phone? – You look at it one way and it looks like an Apple magic mouse, until you flip it over to reveal a basic number pad and a screen. This is the last one of many Apple fakes and I have to say it’s pretty awesome: a phone that looks like a Magic Mouse. Of course this is no iPhone, or a smartphone for that matter, just a plain old phone, all you need is to make calls and dig that shiny Apple logo, you know what to get.

2. It’s a PS3… and a bed for your cat – What happens when you’re sick of your PS3 but don’t want to throw the whole thing away. I say reuse it, let your cat sleep inside it, literally. Of course you have to get rid of the internal components, but once you do that, I bet your kitty will be pleased!

1. An iPhone in space (submitted by Lyserg Zeroz on SPOM) – What happens when you strap an iPhone to a balloon and turn the camera on? You get amazing video footage:
That’s it for today guys. This week’s edition was the first partially crowdsourced one, so I hope you enjoyed the stories. You can submit your own stories and suggestion on this thread on South Pole of the Moon. Until then, geek out. And submit stories.
