Crazy Tech Countdown: game on your iPhone with physical buttons, invisibility and more

Welcome once again to yet another Crazy Tech Countdown, the weekly column where we countdown the freakiest tech stories of the week. I hope you had a robot-y and safe Halloween. With that out of the way, let’s count ‘em down!

5. Type while walking - If you’re just twice as antisocial as I am, you’ve probably felt the need to type on your phone while walking. The problem is you have to look away from the screen every 2 seconds or so, and that can be quite annoying, again, if sunlight annoys you that much. This 99-cent app puts an end to that by letting you see what’s behind your phone, thanks to the built-in camera, while you text, email and more. Hah, who am I kidding, do you even go out anymore?

4. You can get physical buttons on your iPhone (sorta) - As an iPhone gamer myself, I know the lack of tactile feedback can be quite frustrating when you need to be fast and accurate. Thankfully, these stickers claim to put an end to that. You attach them to your screen and you’re set: physical controls on your touch-screen phone.

3. The invisibility shield - Invisibility has been a lot in the news lately, and in science fiction for ages. Scientists have already found a way to hide objects using hard surfaces, but as you might expect, that’s really not practical. Meet the meta-flex, a light and flexible material that accomplishes the same results. As long as no one uses it to blow up the planet I’m fine with it (wishful thinking).

2. Screwdrivers are a thing of the past - Students have built a laptop that can be disassembled without the use of any screwdrivers at all. Ever thought assembling a laptop would be easier than LEGO?

1. A car that can be turned into a plane, a boat and a submarine - Most likely not the best example of fuel efficiency, but could this be the future of transportation? At least for those who own private jets.

That’s it for this week guys. Be sure to keep suggestion stories on this thread at South Pole of the Moon. Until next time, geek out!
